On Oct. 29 local time, the completion ceremony of the Ten Thousand Villages Project in Nigeria was held in Abuja, capital city of Nigeria. The ceremony marked the successful completion of the project in Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa. The ceremony was attended by Odebunmi Olusegun Dokun, Chairman of House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values of Nigeria, Li Yuan, Counselor of Economic and Commercial Office of China in Nigeria, director of the Press, Public Relations and Protocol Department of the Ministry of Information and Culture of Nigeria, and Zhang Junqi, CEO of StarTimes Nigeria.
The Ten Thousand Villages Project in Nigeria covers all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory throughout the country. 772 of the 774 local government areas, 1,000 villages and 23,000 households have benefited from this project. In addition, more than 1,000 maintenance technicians have been trained for the installation and maintenance of digital TV equipment, and they will ensure the stable operation of the Ten Thousand Villages Project in the long run. At the completion ceremony, the Nigerian government awarded StarTimes with the Certificate of Satisfaction to the Ten Thousand Villages Project, and expressed their appreciation for the successful completion and contributions StarTimes made as the contractor of this project.
