A ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the Ten Thousand Villages Project in Malawi

On the morning of Nov. 15 local time, the completion ceremony of the Ten Thousand Villages Project in Malawi was held in Nankhwali Primary School, Mangochi District, Malawi. The completion ceremony was jointly witnessed by Mark Botomani, Malawian Minister of Information, Civic Education and Communications Technology, Ralph Jooma, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Wang Xiusheng, the Chargé d'Affaires of Chinese Embassy in Malawi, Luo Hao, the CEO of StarTimes Tanzania, other leaders of the Mangochi District and local people.


The Ten Thousand Villages Project in Malawi covers 26 districts (193 constituencies) and 500 villages. During the construction of the project, more than 1,000 technicians have received professional training in the installation and maintenance of digital TV equipment, ensuring the stable operation and the project in the long run. Mark Botomani, Malawian Minister of Information, Civic Education and Communications Technology, said in a speech that the Ten Thousand Villages Project had provided an opportunity for the Malawian people living in remote mountainous areas to communicate with the outside world and greatly enriched their daily life. He thanked the Chinese government for this aided project and spoke highly of StarTimes’s work.
